Emine Yikilmaz, PhD, Principal Consultant Chemistry and Biochemistry & President

Dr. Yikilmaz has spent majority of her professional career as a scientist at various academic institutions, biochemical companies, and at the National Institutes of Health. She offers a diverse protein chemistry skill set focused on biophysical and structural characterization, creating techniques that support to express, purify, and characterize proteins as well as to study proteins, protein-ligand, protein-protein, and protein-RNA interactions.

During her doctoral research at The Johns Hopkins University, where I studied the metal specificity and factors regulating reduction midpoint potential of superoxide dismutases (SODs). I utilized site directed mutagenesis and characterized the mutated SODs by various spectroscopic techniques and X-Ray crystallography. At NIH she developed methods to characterize the biophysical and structural interactions within protein-RNA entities. At Berlex Biosciences (Schering AG) she led the efforts in target validation for oncology and immunology, providing purified and well-characterized proteins vehicles and performed proteomics testing. At Pacific Biosciences, she drove the DNA polymerase characterization by MS. She has a PhD, MS and BS.

Martin R. Pais, PhD, PE, Principal Consultant Engineering and Chief Operating Officer

Over the past 33 years Dr. Pais has worked as a technologist and consultant in the field of Mechanical engineering. His experience spans academic teaching, sourcing and managing research programs. He has been instrumental in driving the identification and implementation of nascent technologies with emphasis on materials, magnetics, optics, structural, thermal, and vibration. In addition he has integrated mechanical simulation to enable virtual prototyping, developing and disseminating a simulation process, and enabling key technology components to meet product/customer needs. He has worked on over 96 technology and product contracts, published over 105 journal, conference and technical reports, has over 37 patents. He has been a principal investigator on major contracts for the US Air Force, Department of Defense, NASA, and private corporations. He is a registered Professional Engineer in Illinois, a Fellow of ASME, and member of ASHRAE,AIAA, IWPC, IMAPS, and IEST. He has a PhD, MSME and BSME.
